Installations, respectively, for mining uranium ore and for
refining it to produce uranium ore concentrate, most commonly into
concentrated crude oxide, U3O8 (often called
yellow cake). Uranium mining and ore processing are activities
which are not required to be declared, although certain imports and
exports of ore concentrate are required to be reported to the IAEA.
The State shall provide the IAEA with information specifying the
location, the operational status and the estimated annual
production capacity of uranium mines and concentration plants and
thorium concentration plants, and the current annual production of
such mines and concentration plants for the State as a whole.
Further, the State shall provide, upon request by the IAEA, the
current annual production of an individual mine or concentration
plant. The provision of this information does not require detailed
nuclear material accountancy.
