The Treaty has 11 articles detailing signatory states'
obligations:
1. Nuclear Weapon States (NWS) will not assist Non-Nuclear
Weapon States (NNWS) with the production of nuclear weapons in any
way
2. NNWS will not attempt to acquire nuclear weapons in any
way
3. NNWS will accept IAEA safeguards on all nuclear facilities
and material. Signatory states will not transfer nuclear material
to any country without IAEA safeguards.
4. All signatory states have the right to the peaceful use of
nuclear energy
5. Any benefits derived from the peaceful nuclear explosions
will be provided to NNWS
6. The NWS will move towards complete nuclear disarmament
7. Signatory states will still be allowed to form regional
treaties for the creation of weapon's free zones
8. Any party may submit amendments to the treaty (additional
details are provided for the consideration of amendments)
9. Defines a NWS as one which manufactured and exploded a
nuclear weapon or other nuclear explosive device prior to January
1, 1967

10. Each signatory state has the right to withdraw from the
treaty, but must provide 3 months notice. Additionally, in 25 years
a conference will be held to determine whether or not to extend the
treaty (the conference was held, and the treaty has been extended
indefinitely with review conferences held every 5 years)
11. The treaty has been translated and authenticated in English,
Russian, French, Spanish and Chinese.
